NBI probes slay of woman, child slay

MANILA, Philippines — Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into the killing of a woman and her seven-year-old daughter in General Trias, Cavite. 

Aguirre issued Department Order 797 directing the NBI to conduct an investigation on the death of Ruby Gamos and Shaniah Nicole.X

NBI director Dante Gierran was ordered to submit a report and updates on the progress of the investigation.

Gamos, 34, and Shaniah Nicole, who were found dead at their house in Barangay Navarro on Monday, bore head injuries and strangulation marks, respectively. There was no sign of forcible entry into their house.

Probers are eyeing robbery as the motive for the killing, noting that the car, television, cell phone, gadgets and jewelry of the victims were missing.

Gamos’ husband Marlon, a seaman, who arrived this week, appealed to authorities to help him get justice for his wife and daughter.
