'Urduja' seen to make landfall in Bicol, Eastern Visayas
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Urduja has maintained strength and is expected to make landfall in Bicol and Eastern Visayas, state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
Urduja was spotted at around 455 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte as of 3:00 a.m. Wednesday.
It is expected to move north-northwest at around 7 kilometers per hour, with maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 65 kilometers per hour.
No storm signal has been issued yet.
However, the province of Albay has announced class suspension for Wednesday from pre-school to elementary levels. Classes in all levels in Camarines Sur have been also suspended.
The weather bureau warned that sea travel in the eastern seaboard of Bicol, Eastern Visayas and Caraga region is risky due to moderate to rough seas.
