10 die in road mishaps

MANILA, Philippines — Two soldiers were among 10 persons killed in road accidents across the country in the past two days.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines has yet to identify the fatalities and eight other soldiers who were injured when a military truck fell into a 10-foot ravine in Cotabato yesterday morning.

Initial reports showed the truck driver lost control of the wheel when a child suddenly crossed the street.

The truck, which was carrying personnel of the 39th Infantry Battalion, was traveling along the Antipas-Arakan road when the accident occurred.

In Iloilo, Rocky Baldezer, 26, and Francisco Libuna were on their way to work when their motorcycle rammed a lamppost in Barangay Camambugan, Sta. Barbara at around 6:45 a.m. yesterday.

Kenneth Guerrero was driving his motorcycle when it was hit by a truck along the Tanay-Pililla diversion road in Barangay Plaza Aldea, Tanay, Rizal on Sunday.

A man identified only as Hocen was hit by a taxi (ACD-7985) driven by Samuel Casoy in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Cainta also in Rizal.

The motorcycles driven by Jaymark Poblete, 16, and teacher Mark Cavin Benigno, 25, collided in Barangay Parada-Batu, Sta. Ana, Cagayan.

Motorcycle rider Diana Joy Rayton, 20, was thrown off the vehicle when it crashed into a gutter in Barangay Oas, Albay.

The motorcycle driven by Jayson Jamolin, 23, collided with another motorbike driven by Roberto Erevira in Barangay Aroroy, Gubat, Sorsogon.
