6 cops face raps for rape of drug suspect

OLONGAPO CITY , Philippines  — Six policemen are facing criminal and administrative charges for the alleged rape of a woman drug suspect at a police station in this city.

Police Officer 2 Nelson Abalos; PO1s Gaylord Calara, Raymond Diaz and Ed Mesias and PO3s Diosdado Alterado and Stevie Rivera were recently charged before the Olongapo City prosecutors’ office and Philippine National Police Internal Affairs Office.

Documents obtained by The STAR showed the alleged rape occurred last June 29 when the victim was detained at police precinct 5 in Barangay Sta. Rita.

Calara reportedly ordered the victim to dance naked in front of  the policemen.

The victim said an inmate also entered the room and was ordered to have sex with her while the policemen watched.  She said she was also raped by one of the police officers.

The victim said she waited to be transferred to the Olongapo City jail before reporting the incident.

The policemen denied the allegations.
