1 dead, 13 hurt in road mishap

CAMARINES NORTE, Philippines – A motorcycle rider died in an accident along Maharlika Highway in Basud, Camarines Norte on Monday.

Amador Torquator Jr. was pronounced dead on arrival at the Camarines Norte Provincial Hospital.

Initial investigation showed that an Isuzu jitney driven by Dexter Peleño, 36, was on its way to Basud from Naga City when it collided with the motorcycle  driven by Raymel  Torquator, 30, on the opposite lane.

Thirteen passengers of the jitney and motorcycle riders were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.

Peleño, who escaped after the accident, was arrested in a follow-up operation.
