5 drug suspects, 5 others shot dead

MANILA, Philippines - Five more suspected drug pushers in Bulacan, including a policeman, and five other persons were shot dead in separate incidents in the past two days.

Police Officer 1 Ellis Natividad of the Zamboanga City police was standing in front of Grand Royale subdivision in Barangay Pinagbakahan in Malolos City when four men on two motorcycles arrived and opened fire at around 10 a.m. yesterday.

Senior Superintendent Romeo Caramat, Bulacan police acting director, said Natividad, a former member of the Bulacan police, was a “high-value” drug pusher.

Ronald Allan Reyes, alias Bonad, and his two unidentified companions allegedly shot it out with anti-drug operatives in Barangay Malis in Guiguinto at around 5:05 a.m. also yesterday.

A certain Asbok reportedly drew his gun when he sensed he had sold shabu to undercover agents in Barangay Longos in Pulilan on Wednesday.

Police said sachets of shabu, guns and marked money were recovered from the fatalities.

15 nabbed

At least 15 more drug suspects were arrested in stings across the country.

Five men, including Juan Donoso Patagan Jr., 47, alleged operator of a drug den, were collared in Barangay Washington in Surigao City.  Police said the suspects yielded 25 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P295,000, drug paraphernalia and marked money. 

Garry Gonzales, a resident of Barangay Mangagoy in Bislig City; Juney Tirol of  Barangay Washington, Surigao City and Nicholas Lurcha of Magasang, Cantilan, Surigao del Sur reportedly yielded a motorcycle and 16 sachets of shabu weighing 10.3 grams with an estimated value of P121,540.

Gun attacks

Meanwhile, police have yet to determine the motive for the gun attacks that killed Ian Duz Keefe, 23, alias Tattoo; Joshua Sykimte, 21, and Roger Lisondra, 52, on Wednesday. Bermondo Cayasa, 21, was wounded.

 Witnesses said motorcycle-riding men opened fire while the victims were having a drinking spree along the road in Barangay Taft in Surigao City.

Farmer Virgilio Daguiwas, 56, was driving an Isuzu truck when four men on two motorcycles who tailed his vehicle fired at him upon reaching Barangay Sinangguyan in Don Carlos, Bukidnon.

Army reservist Daniel Lacpap was buying at a convenience store in Barangay Buyagan Poblacion in La Trinidad, Benguet when he was shot also on Wednesday.  –  Ramon Efren Lazaro, Ric Sapnu, Emmanuel Tupas, Francis Elevado, Ben Serrano, Raymund Catindig, Artemio Dumlao
