Officials clarify: No new fire in QC mall
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Quezon Central Fire Station on Tuesday denied reports that a new fire broke in Quezon City mall.
Netizens were alarmed after photos of thick smoke seen in TriNoma in Quezon City circulated online. The officials however clarified that the smoke coming out is from a generator being tested.
The TriNoma management reportedly confirmed that there was no fire.
On Monday afternoon, a fire incident at an appliance warehouse located inside the Landmark building of TriNoma was reported. This prompted the temporary closure and evacuation of customers and employees.
A worker, identified as Anthony Molina, was reportedly trapped in the barracks of the burning building but was rescued by fire marshalls later on.
In its official statement, TriNoma said the BFP declared fire incident under control at around 6:12 p.m. The management likewise apologized for the inconvenience brought by the early mall closures.
The management assured the public that it would resume operations on Tuesday.
“Please be informed that TriNoma, including Landmark, will have normal operations tomorrow & regular mall hours will be followed. Thank you,” it announced on its Twitter account.
