The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Police recovered around seven kilos of marijuana, with an estimated street value of P140,000, in Quezon City on Tuesday.

A plastic bag containing the marijuana was stuffed into a chair and abandoned at a vacant lot along Ofelia street, Abogao Compound in Barangay Bahay Toro.

Residents discovered the plastic bag after a foul smell reeked from a supposed garbage pile at around 8 p.m.

Senior Superintendent Danilo Mendoza, commander of the Talipapa police, said the discovery was reported to police the next day.

Mendoza said the dried marijuana was brought to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory for examination.

Residents told police that a suspect who came from Fairview dumped the marijuana in the area.

Mendoza said they were also looking into reports that it could have been abandoned when a fire hit a residential area nearby.

A kilo of marijuana goes for about P15,000 to P20,000, police said.
