Cop relieved for lewd remark on FB
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – A police officer who allegedly made lewd remark on a photo of a Marcos protester posted on social media is facing investigation for grave misconduct.
Police Officer 1 Christian Godfrey Plantinos was transferred from the police Station 5 to the Public Safety Company, according to Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, spokesperson for the city police office.
Plantinos claimed a friend used his Facebook account to comment on the photo. He refused to name the friend.
“I forgot to log out from my account,” he said.
The officer said he is willing to face the issue. He admitted he was hurt because the netizens judged him and his family.
Bacolod City police acting director Senior Superintendent Flynn Dongbo said should Plantinos be found to have committed lapses, the BCPO will conduct a pre-charge investigation and will submit recommendations to the regional police office.
Dongbo expressed hope Plantinos case would serve as a reminder for his men to think first before posting a comment on social media and be responsible for their actions.
