130 Calabarzon barangays declared drug-free
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – At least 130 barangays in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) were declared drug-free recently, a police official said yesterday.
Regional police director Chief Superintendent Valfrie Tabian said of the region’s 4,018 villages, 75 percent or 3,011 were drug-affected.
Among those declared drug-free were 26 barangays in San Luis, Batangas; 23 in Luisiana, 19 in Cavinti and 24 in Magdalena, all in Laguna, and 39 in Pitogo, Quezon.
The Philippine Drug and Enforcement Agency-4A (PDEA-4A) and the Municipalities Anti-Drug Council certified to the feat of these villages.
Tabian requested the PDEA-4A and the local police to conduct seminars to clear other barangays of drugs.
