Shabu price drops in Baguio, Cordillera Administrative Region

The Philippine Star

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – The anti-drug war being implemented by the Duterte administration has caused a drop in the price of shabu in the Cordilleras.

The street value for shabu dropped by 40 to 50 percent this month, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency regional director Juvenal Azurin said.

Authorities said shabu has been the choice of drug users in Baguio City and the Cordilleras, despite the region being considered the country’s largest producer of marijuana.

The city police had declared all 128 villages in this city drug-affected, but the PDEA said only 25 percent were actually affected.

Meanwhile, in Abra, officials and employees of the Abra Electric Cooperative (Abreco) are undergoing drug tests to clear the cooperative’s name in the illegal drug use.

Abreco general manager Loreto Seares Jr. ordered all 264 officials and employees, including contractual and job order personnel, be tested.

The order came after authorities said 90 Abreco employees were drug users.
