MANILA, Philippines – Pope Francis named Bishop Patricio Buzon as the new bishop of the Diocese of Bacolod.

Buzon will transfer from the diocese of Kabankalan to replace resigned Msgr. Vicente Navarra as shepherd of the Diocese of Bacolod. He became the second bishop of the Diocese of Kabankalan on March 12, 2003.

The new bishop of Bacolod is a current member of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines’ Episcopal Commission on Youth. He formerly served as spiritual moderator of Don Bosco Missionary Seminary in Talisay, Cebu from 1977 to 1988 and was the rector of Don Bosco Technical High School in Punta Princesa, Cebu from 1988 to 1992.

Buzon became a professed member of the Salesian order on June 29, 1967 and his perpetual profession was on May 24, 1973.

Meanwhile, former shepherd of Diocese of Bacolod Navarra resigned from his post since he already reached the retirement age for bishops, 75 year old. He is now 77. — Rosette Adel
