Mimaropa workers may get pay hike

Mayen Jaymalin - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) reported yesterday that workers from the MIMAROPA region might get a salary increase early this year.

NWPC executive director Criselda Sy said the regional wage board is already deliberating on the issuance of a new wage order after completing a public hearing.

She added that while the increase is not known yet, it may come within the next 30 days.

Last year, the board approved an order granting between P5 to P30 of salary increases to bring the region’s wage rate above the poverty threshold.

MIMAROPA comprised the provinces of Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Occidental and Oriental Mindoro.
