‘Stop and go’ scheme to be implemented for APEC

Rosette Adel - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines – The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) advised the public of the “stop and go” scheme that has been implemented in Metro Manila starting Sunday.

The MMDA said motorists on EDSA, Roxas Boulevard, Skyway and South Luzon Express Way as well as roads around the Ninoy Aquino International Airport will go through the scheme from November 15 to 20 to give way to leaders passing through the areas.

“Whenever economic leaders pass by these areas all traffic will be stopped. Traffic will resume once the leaders have gone through,” the advisory said.

Aside from the stop-and-go scheme, the MMDA earlier announced road closures, alternate routes for the public and APEC lanes for the delegates attending the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting on November 18 and 19.

The number coding will still be implemented during this week amid the declaration of holidays in Metro Manila.

There is also a 24-hour truck ban on Roxas Boulevard from November 17 to 20. In other areas, trucks will only be allowed to pass from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
