Cop shot while serving arrest warrant

SURIGAO CITY, Philippines  – A police officer was wounded after he was shot by the helper of a man he was about to arrest in Sta. Josefa, Agusan del Sur yesterday.

Police Officer 1 Efren Castor was taken to the Davao Regional Hospital in Tagum City for treatment.

Reports said that Castor and another police officer was about to serve a warrant for the arrest of Carmelito Davin in Barangay Sayon, when the suspect’s helper, identified as Aying Esteban shot him.

Davin reportedly held Castor’s companion’s hostage, but released him after the local police responded.
