Man drowns as boat sinks in Taal Lake

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, aaa – A man drowned while his three companions survived when their boat capsized in Taal Lake in Talisay, Batangas on Tuesday, authorities reported yesterday.

Frederick Rivera was declared dead on arrival at the St.  Andrew Hospital, according to Inspector Hazel Lumang-Ang, spokesperson for the Batangas police.

Rivera’s body was recovered by fishermen in the area.

Lumang-Ang said Rivera, along with three friends, had been drinking heavily when they decided to ride a banca around the lake at around 5:30 p.m.

Lumang-Ang said Rivera jumped into the water, causing the boat to lose its balance and sink.
