Cavite town exec shot dead
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A municipal councilor of Cavite was shot dead, allegedly by his helper, in Tanza yesterday morning.
Wilfredo Nuñez, a councilor of Tanza, was found with gunshot wounds in the head and chest by police officers in Barangay Julugan 8 at around 6 a.m., said Senior Superintendent Jonnel Estomo, Cavite police director.
Estomo said investigators recovered three bullet shells for a .9mm pistol at the crime scene.
Witnesses said they saw Nuñez’s helper, Romeo Guibao, 30, escape in a tricycle minutes after they heard gunshots. Guibao reportedly used the victim’s own gun.
Estomo said Nuñez and Guibao recently had a spat and the helper may have killed the victim over a personal grudge.
Police launched a manhunt for Guibao.
