Louis Bacani - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The low pressure area located east of Aparri, Cagayan has developed into a tropical depression named "Inday," state weather bureau PAGASA said before Tuesday noon.

In a weather bulletin issued at 10:30 a.m., PAGASA said Inday was located at 870 kilometers east of Aparri with a forecast northwest movement at 15 kilometers per hour (kph).

It is packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and may dump moderate to heavy rains (7.5 to 15 millimeters per hour) within its 300-kilometer diameter.

PAGASA said Inday will not yet directly affect any part of the country and based on its forecast track, the cyclone will not hit land.

The tropical depression is expected to be at 690 kilometers east northeast of Aparri by Wednesday morning.

Inday is the ninth cyclone to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this year.
