Tornado destroys 12 houses, 3 schoolhouses in Maguindanao

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines – A dozen houses and three school buildings were destroyed by a tornado that swept through a hinterland village in South Upi town here on Tuesday.

The tornado that struck Barangay Kigan also flattened more than two hectares of corn plants, according to the municipal disaster risk reduction and management council.

The affected villagers have been evacuated to the barangay hall or have stayed with their relatives.
