Steady power supply for Mindanao during holidays

COTABATO CITY, Philippines  -- The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) assured on Saturday Mindanao’s power consumers of steady supply of electricity during Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Milfrance Capulong, NGCP corporate communications head, told reporters they will exert all efforts to provide the public with adequate power supply on December 25 and January 1, 2014.

The NGCP supplies the Mindanao grid with power produced by state-owned hydro-electric plants in Lanao del Sur and in Bukidnon. 

Capulong said the National Power Corp. still has no load curtailment advisory for next week.

Capulong, at the same time, appealed to the public to help the police and military monitor the areas of of power relay pylons to prevent attempts by lawless groups to topple the posts.
