Radio commentator dead in Bukidnon attack

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines  --- Two men riding a motorcycle together gunned down Friday night a radio blocktimer in Valencia town in nearby Bukidnon province, police said.

The victim, Joas Dignos, was reportedly standing along a busy stretch of a national highway  in the Valencia town proper when the motorcycle-riding gunmen pulled over near him, drew their handguns and opened fire.

The Valencia police said Dignos died on the spot. His killers hurriedly left the scene riding their motorcycle.

Investigators have yet to determine if the attack was related to the victim’s profession as a blocktime commentator in a local radio station, which was rocked by a grenade explosion in June.

The grenade attack hurt  the station's janitor.
