P-Noy to name new Eastmincom chief
MANILA, Philippines - A member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class ’80 is reportedly being eyed as the next chief of the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Military sources said Maj. Gen. Ricardo Rainier Cruz III might be named the next chief of the Davao-based unit, one of the two unified commands in Mindanao.
Eastmincom chief Lt. Gen. Jorge Segovia is set to retire on April 13.
â€Talks are rife that (Cruz) will be named to the post,†a source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.
Cruz is the chief of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division based in Zamboanga del Sur. He was former assistant commander of the Davao-based 10th ID.
Aquino’s sisters – Ballsy, Pinky, Viel and Kris – are all adopted members of PMA Class ’80.
