Miss Universe Rolls Royce: A car fit for royalty

“Pretty in Pink” –the Rolls Royce Ghost Series II was the official mode of transportation during the visit to Manila of Miss Universe 2017 and Miss Universe 2016. The author stands next to the Miss Universe Rolls Royce.

What is a car fit for a queen? I suppose it depends on the queen’s lifestyle. What if you were the Queen of the Universe?

The reigning Miss Universe is expected to travel in a long gown or dress, in heels, and always fully made up. Any crowned Miss Universe is genetically gifted with long legs. Therefore, a car fit for the Miss Universe should at least have a lot of legroom. But when Miss Universe 2017 (Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters) and Miss Universe 2016 (Iris Mittenaere) visited the Philippines last week, they got a car with more than just generous legroom.

The Rolls Royce Ghost Series II offers a lot of legroom and luxury. But the Miss Universe Rolls Royce is exceptionally “Pretty in Pink.” Donning a special “pink” color, the Miss Universe Ghost sedan is dotted with sparkling stars on the sides.

I came across the Miss Universe Rolls Royce when I saw it parked in a Manila hangar. At that time, I had just landed in a twin-propeller plane from Vigan to Manila. Incidentally, the private plane I used was formerly the official air transportation used by the Miss Universe 2016 contestants.

This gave me some insights on what it takes to be the official mode of transportation for a Miss Universe Queen. Some major traits that a private plane or the Rolls Royce Ghost Series II have in common are—luxurious, efficient, comfortable, beautiful and very exclusive.

Drawn to the generous legroom and extremely comfortable interiors of the Rolls Royce, I previously tried to convince my husband to buy me a Rolls Royce Phantom. When he finally said yes, I inquired about the price and he later sarcastically asked me, “Does the Phantom come with an apartment?”

Sarcastic husbands aside, it is undeniable that the Rolls Royce Ghost Series II and Phantom come with large price tags. But as they say, “we get what we pay for.” Rolls Royce sedans do not skimp on luxury and quality.

There is a famous Filipino song that goes “Ikaw ang Miss Universe ng buhay ko…” (“You are the Miss Universe of my life…”). For those who can afford it, giving a woman a ride in a Rolls Royce is definitely a way to make her feel like a Miss Universe Queen. But for men and women alike, riding a Rolls Royce is surefire way to get royal treatment.
