Iloilo hospital on lockdown

ILOILO CITY, Philippines — A hospital in Iloilo City has been placed on lockdown after six doctors tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.

The Western Visayas-Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 identified the hospital as St. Paul’s Hospital located on Gen. Luna street.

“All hospital personnel are placed under strict quarantine. Contact tracing has been undertaken since Friday and certain hospital departments are temporarily closed,” Roy Villa, spokesperson for the task force, said.

Mayor Jerry Tren?as appealed for prayers for the hospital workers and officials.

“The management of St. Paul’s Hospital is coordinating with the task force and following all its protocols and decisions. Contact tracing is currently undertaken by both the hospital administration and personnel of the city health office,” Treñas posted on Facebook.

On Sunday night, the Department of Health- Center for Health Development in Western Visayas confirmed that six of the 26 cases are health practitioners.

The new cases brought to 274 the total number of confirmed COVID cases in the region.

Most of the cases are either repatriated overseas Filipino workers or locally-stranded individuals.

Lockdown lifted

Meanwhile, the municipal hall of La Trinidad in Benguet has reopened after it was placed on lockdown for a week due to COVID cases.

Mayor Romeo Salda imposed the lockdown on June 18 after three police officers and a health worker tested positive for COVID.

All municipal hall workers were subjected to swab tests and the offices sanitized.

As of June 26, La Trinidad has 16 positive cases and 10 recoveries. Artemio Dumlao
