BOC, NBI nanguna sa raid ng P250 milyong pekeng luxury goods
MANILA, Philippines — Pinangunahan ng Bureau of Customs (BOC), Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Manila International Container Port (CIIS-MICP), at National Bureau of Investigation-Special Action Unit (NBI-SAU) ang isang joint operation noong Biyernes sa Peter Street, Perpetual Village, Las Piñas City kung saan nadiskubre nila ang humigit-kumulang sa P250 milyong halaga ng mga puslit na pekeng luxury items.
Ayon kay CIIS Director Jeoffrey C. Tacio, na nahaharap sa kasong paglabag sa intellectual property rights (IPR) ang mga sangkot sa pamemeke ng produkto.
Nakumpiska ng grupo ang mga smuggled na imported IPR-infringing clothing items, gaya ng shorts, pants, t-shirts, polo shirts, baby apparel, at iba pa. Ang mga items ay imitasyon ng luxury brands na Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes, Gucci, Lacoste, Levi’s, Adidas, Nike, Fila, Champion, Zara, at H&M.
Nadiskubre rin ang mga IPR-infringing bottles ng mga pabango, gaya ng luxury brands na Jo Malone, Versace, at Lanvin.
Pinuri naman ni Customs Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Raniel Ramiro ang operasyon. “We don’t want the country to suffer from a certain reputation that allows infringed goods to get into the market and make a mockery of our laws and systems,” aniya. “This is non-negotiable for us. Samantala, aabot naman sa halagang P31.5 milyon ang nasabat na mga peke at hindi rehistradong mga produktong pangkalusugan sa pagsalakay rin ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) sa dalawang bodega sa Sta. Cruz, Maynila kamakailan.
Sa ulat na inilabas kahapon, nakasaad na sinalakay ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Intellectual Property Rights Division (CIIS-IPRD) dalawang bodega sa may Ongpin Street at Fernandez Street sa Sta. Cruz.
Nagkakahalaga ng P9.5 milyon ang nasabat na produkto sa bodega sa Ongpin habang P22 milyon naman ang nasabat sa Fernandez Street.
