MANILA, Philippines — Inaasahang makukumpleto na ang konstruksiyon ng grand central station o Common Station na nagkokonekta sa apat na railway lines sa Metro Manila sa katapusan ng buwang ito.

Sa pahayag ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) kahapon, nabatid na mismong si Secretary Arthur Tugade ang nag-anunsiyo na matatapos na sa katapusan ng Marso ang North Avenue Common Station na matatagpuan sa Quezon City, nang magsagawa ng site inspection doon noong Huwebes, Marso 3.

Nabatid na kasama ni Tugade sa pag-i-inspeksiyon sa istasyon sina ay Japan Ambassador to the Philippines Kazuhiko Koshikawa, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) chief representative Eigo Azukizawa, BF Corporation CEO Marides Fernando, iba pang transport officials, at private sector partners.

Ayon sa DOTr, matapos ang mahigit 15-taon simula nang aprubahan ng National Economic and Development Authority-Investment Coordination Committee ang proyekto noong Disyembre 2006, ay ngayon lamang natuloy ang naturang Common Station project.

“Notwithstanding the fact that I did not close EDSA to traffic, notwithstanding the fact that I did not suspend or realign the operations of the MRT3, the construction of the Common Station’s building structure will be completed by the end of March,” anunsiyo pa ni Tugade.

Target na masimulan ang operasyon sa Hulyo 2022, ipinag-utos ni Tugade ang pagsisimula ng operasyon sa mas maagang petsa nang hindi naisasakripisyo ang kalidad ng trabaho at reasonability ng gastusin.
