Man dies after being hit by PNR train

MANILA, Philippines – An elderly man died after being hit by a train of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) in Makati yesterday morning.

Macario Ylarde, 68, of San Andres Bukid, Manila, died while being treated at the Makati Medical Center.

Reports said the PNR train was approaching the Buendia station at around 10:15 a.m. when Ylarde crossed the railtracks.

PNR spokesperson Joseline Geronimo said the train operator stepped on the brakes, but it was too late.

The passengers were offloaded at the Buendia station following the accident.
