MANILA, Philippines — Two alleged drug dealers were arrested with over P1 million worth of shabu during a sting in Quezon City at past midnight yesterday.

Samim Mapandi, 29, and Junarie Basher, 26, were apprehended in front of a bank along Quezon Avenue at around 1:30 a.m.

Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director, said the two suspects, some of the “biggest illegal drug suppliers” in Metro Manila, were under surveillance for over a month before the sting.

Anti-narcotics operatives reportedly bought P600,000 worth of shabu from Mapandi.

Four big plastic bags said to contain 200 grams of shabu, with a street value of P1.25 million, and the marked money were recovered from the suspects.

The two allegedly operated in Quezon City, Manila and Pasay City.

In Pasig City, Roderick Dinglasan, 43, was arrested in a sting along F. Soriano street in Barangay Palatiw at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Dinglasan reportedly yielded five sachets of shabu and P200 marked money, police said.

In Marikina City, Jonell Irinco and a minor were accosted by police officers on patrol along Dasdasan street in Barangay San Roque at around 12:30 a.m. yesterday.

As the police officers questioned him, a sachet of dried marijuana leaves reportedly fell from his right front  pocket. Two more sachets of marijuana were found on Irinco’s person.

His minor companion was arrested for vagrancy.

In Las Piñas, Romeo Lucas, 45; Dennis Hernandez, 39; and Ronald Jose, 52, were arrested in a sting in Barangay CAA just before 10 p.m. Thursday.

Two sachets of shabu and a third sachet, containing shabu residue, were reportedly confiscated from them.

Ponor Barrientos was arrested in a sting along Manalo street in Barangay Martinez, Pateros at around 7:30 p.m. Thursday. A sachet of shabu was reportedly seized from him. – Romina Cabrera, Non Alquitran, Ghio Ong
