Alleged NPA member charged in DOJ
MANILA, Philippines — An alleged member of the New People’s Army (NPA) arrested in Rizal last Thursday was charged before the Department of Justice (DOJ) yesterday.
Marklen Maja, organizer of militant group Kilusang Mayo Uno and son-in-law of National Democratic Front consultant Rafael Baylosis, was brought to the DOJ for inquest proceedings on charges of illegal possession of firearms.
Assisted by public attorney, Maja opted not to answer the complaint of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group. The investigating prosecutor then submitted the case for resolution.
Before becoming a KMU organizer, Maja used to be an active member of the League of Filipino students. He is also a founding member of the youth group Anakbayan.
