Erap: JV won’t run for San Juan mayor
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito is not running for mayor of San Juan City in the 2019 midterm elections, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada said yesterday.
Ejercito is Estrada’s son by incumbent Mayor Guia Gomez, who is on her third and last term.
In a phone interview with The STAR, Estrada said former vice mayor Francis Zamora is “foolish” for saying that Ejercito intends to return as city mayor in the next elections.
“First of all, JV’s performance as a senator is OK. He has two terms remaining so he can seek reelection,” Estrada said.
Estrada said the Zamoras think that they could buy everything with money.
“They cannot buy the people of San Juan. For as long as I am here, they will not win,” the mayor said.
