10 nabbed in Quezon City, Caloocan drug raids

MANILA, Philippines — At least 10 persons were arrested in separate raids in Quezon City and Caloocan since Wednesday, days after President Duterte brought the Philippine National Police back to the government’s war on drugs.

Derek Navado Framil was served a search warrant at his home in Villa Lourdes Subdivision in Barangay Culiat after police received reports he was using his house as a drug den.

A total of 20 grams of shabu, with an estimated value of P100,000, as well as drug paraphernalia, a .45 caliber pistol, a .38 caliber revolver, a magazine and several bullets were recovered at Framil’s house.

Talipapa police arrested Sukrael Usop, 50, and Anne Acosta, 43, for carrying a sachet of shabu and drug paraphernalia in Purok 2 Certeza Compound in Barangay Culiat.

Paolo Buenaventura, 33, was caught smoking marijuana along Fairlane street in Barangay Greater Fairview.

Marvin Libo-on, 38, was arrested in a drug bust with six sachets of suspected shabu along Laura street in Barangay Old Balara.

Wenjel Castor, 42, and Edmund Demesi, 19, were arrested in another sting along Fort Santiago street in Barangay Cristo. Two sachets said to contain shabu and marked money were seized from them.

Napoleon Futol, 36, and Eufemio Ortiz, 25, with two sachets of suspected shabu in a drug sting in Barangay Botocan last night.

In Caloocan, Lope Marcellano was arrested on Wednesday when police, armed with a search warrant, raided his house in Barangay 187 and recovered eight sachets of suspected shabu.

A .38 caliber revolver without a serial number and 11 bullets were also seized from his house.

In a television report, Caloocan police chief Senior Superintendent Jemar Modequillo said the suspect was known for threatening residents with his firearms.
