Ex-lawmaker named DSWD undersecretary
MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has appointed former Gabriela party-list congresswoman Luzviminda Ilagan as undersecretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development amid reports that one of the DSWD’s officials will be named spokesperson of the Presidential Communications Operations Office.
Ilagan’s appointment was announced yesterday along with the appointment of retired Chief Superintendent Aaron Aquino as Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency director general.
Ilagan’s appointment came weeks after the Commission on Appointments rejected professor Judy Taguiwalo as DSWD secretary.
Duterte also named Romeo Gan as deputy administrator of the National Irrigation Administration.
The appointment papers were coursed through the office of Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr.
