Girl raped, killed in Caloocan

MANILA, Philippines -  A 12-year-old girl was found dead, an apparent victim of rape, at a vacant lot in Bagumbong, Caloocan City yesterday morning.

The body of Rebecca Galguerra, a grade three student of Bagumbong Elementary School, was found by her mother at around 7 a.m. along Cypress street in Rainbow Village, said Senior Police Officer 2 Allan Budios.

Galguerra’s mother told police her daughter went missing before dawn and she asked Lino Albaiz, 43, who was passing by the area, if he had seen her daughter, Budios said.

Albaiz told her that the girl was at the vacant lot.

Budios said there were indications that the girl was raped before she was killed and the crime could have been committed just moments before the mother saw Albaiz.

He said Albaiz is now the subject of a manhunt.
