Woman slain by robber in Makati

MANILA, Philippines - A woman who worked as a cashier at a shawarma store was shot dead by a motorcycle-riding man who tried to grab her bag in front of her home in Makati City before dawn Thursday.

Closed-circuit television footage showed Catalina Aguas, 50, fought back when the assailant grabbed her bag in Barangay San Isidro, PO3 Ronaldo Villaranda said.

The unidentified robber shot her in the head. 

Villaranda said that the victim might have been carrying a large amount of money.

Relatives said it was the second time that someone tried to rob her. She managed to fight off the robber during the first attempt.

Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the identity of the robber.
