6 hurt as turbulence hits PAL plane

Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Six persons were injured when a Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight from Los Angeles, California carrying some 248 passengers was hit by clear air turbulence at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) yesterday morning.

Officials said two passengers and four PAL crew were given first aid treatment before the aircraft – a Boeing 777 – landed at the NAIA runway at around 6:40 a.m.

PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said one of the injured passengers was American singer Ellis Mugin Anika Kembas, who is scheduled to perform in Manila tonight.

Villaluna said the passengers and crew were taken to the Cardinal Santos Hospital by the airline’s medical team.
