Lumads continue call for justice

Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Over 700 lumads from Mindanao marched to Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila yesterday to condemn the killing of indigenous people.

They will camp out in the area until the culmination of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit on Nov. 18 and 19.

The group camped out at the University of the Philippines campus in Diliman, Quezon City for a week before marching to Manila.

The lumads called on the government to give justice to the killings of 144 tribal people and human rights activists in Mindanao. The city government of Manila gave the group a permit to rally in Freedom Park until Nov. 12.
