NBI speeds up clearance processing

MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation yesterday launched an automated payment system that would speed up the process for NBI clearance applicants.

According to NBI Director Virgilio Mendez, the system would help decongest the clearance centers nationwide and expedite the processing of applications.

“The system is already set. We are just finalizing the implementation date so it can be done nationwide.”

Under the NBI’s “e-payment system,” applicants can fill out applications online and they can proceed to payment centers, such as banks and money remittance firms, to settle their bills.

Once paid, they can go to the NBI offices for fingerprinting and claiming the clearance certificates, which would only take about five minutes.

“This will not only speed up the process but will also reduce fixing and red tape,” Mendez said.
