PLM to host voter's education seminar

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila College of Law (PLM-CL) is spearheading a voter’s education seminar on Wednesday at its Justo Albert auditorium in Intramuros.

The whole-day seminar, to be presented by the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) in cooperation with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), will include hands-on demonstration and mock voting among the 10,000 faculty and students of the entire PLM community using official precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines. The participants are expected to cascade the information and explain the skill obtained to their respective communities outside the university.

The voter education drive is the PLM-CL’s initiative to assist the Comelec in disseminating information on the first-ever mandatory large-scale automation of elections as provided for by Republic Act 9369. The program is part of the PLM-CL’s series of activities lined up for its 20th anniversary celebration.

“We will also be proposing the replication of the seminar for the city and barangay officials of Manila to wean voters away from the old manual style and to familiarize them with the features of the brand new system,” PLM-CL associate dean Marisol Anenias said.
