Basak, Mulao contingents shine in Queseo Festival

CEBU, Philippines - The contingent from Basak Elementary School and Mulao National High School were declared grand champions in this year's Queseo Festival of Compostela town.The festival coincided with the town's fiesta celebration.

Both Basak ES and Mulao NHS received P30,000 each in cash prizes. The two contingents were also awarded Best in Choreography and Best in costume in their respective categories to take home an additional prize of P5,000 each.

Under the elementary category, the second place went to the contingent from Compostela Central School representing Barangays Cogon and Poblacion.

The contingent from Dapdap Elementary School representing cluster barangays of Tamiao, Mulao and Dapdap won third place.

The second and third placers went home with P20,000 and P10,000, respectively.

Under the high school category, the second spot was garnered by the contingent from Compostela National High School Day Class and third place by Compostela Science and Technology High School. They also received P20,000 and P10,000 prizes respectively.

The contingent from Dapdap ES was also awarded Best in Street Dancing while the contingent from Mulao NHS won the award in the high school category.

Compostela Mayor Joel Quiño expressed his thanks to the people of the town and different sectors for the success of the Queseo Festival.

Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, for her part, said she was happy with the impressive presentation from the different contingents. She added that Compostela is now ready to present the festival outside the town. (FREEMAN)
