Vhong’s arraignment set October 11
MANILA, Philippines — The arraignment and pre-trial conference for the rape case against actor and television host Vhong Navarro has been set on Oct. 11.
In an Oct. 5 order issued by Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 69 Judge Loralie Datahan, she said the court has “acquired jurisdiction over… Navarro.”
The proceedings will be held at hall of justice on Tuesday afternoon.
Last month, Navarro surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation after an arrest warrant was filed against him for the alleged rape of model Deniece Cornejo in 2014.
Navarro had posted bail for a separate case of acts of lasciviousness filed by Cornejo when the court issued an arrest warrant for rape.
The Department of Justice earlier dismissed the complaints filed by Cornejo, but the Court of Appeals reversed the DOJ ruling and ordered the city prosecutor to file the rape case anew.
