Dressing the table is the new dress-up
Homeware is the fashion girl’s new favorite accessory and elevated essential. At Hermès, they are part of one complete lifestyle — so much so that its home category rivals its cult-status leather goods among its best-sellers in the Manila boutique as we’ve been spending more time indoors over the past year.
Even now that dining out is back, al fresco or distanced, stylish tablescapers aren’t going away anytime soon. We’ve come to appreciate that home is what we make it.
The new Hermès Hippomobile tea service was envisioned as color therapy — injecting whimsy and fun in its palette and theme to your everyday living.
Created by the artist Gianpaolo Pagni, who drew inspiration from jockey silks
and the world of cartoons, he says, “I envisioned a horse with an elongated back that could hold several riders. A kind of limousine horse.”
With this in mind, he interpreted an engraving from the Émile Hermès collection: a monochrome frame, which he covered with graphic friezes evoking jockey outfits. Each of his pieces starts with the crafting of stamps that will go on to create the motifs, leaving behind the slight quiver in the line that characterizes this technique.
Unlike formal tea services, the pieces in this collection can be freely combined: a horse wraps around the teapot, another stretches over three plates, a motif sneaks up inside a cup… Even on a whim, they adapt easily to every occasion, taking you from breakfast, morning coffee, or high tea.
Made for everyday use, Gen Z and Millennial fans will be rejoiced to know that all the pieces from this collection are dishwasher- and microwave-safe. Of course, this Hermès kind of teatime is for anyone who has fun in their hearts.
