Angelica Jones speaks on defamation suit vs Illac Diaz

- Featured Blogger Aaron Erick Lozada -

Former comedienne and incumbent Laguna Board Member Angelica Jones lodged a grave oral defamation suit against young philanthropist Illac Diaz before the San Pablo courts a few days ago.

The charge apparently stemmed out from a tumultuous event wherein the young philanthropist allegedly maligned the person of Bokal Angelica Jones before a multitude of people in San Pablo City.

To clear the issue, the first-termer Board Member from Laguna faced the entertainment media in a press conference held last Wednesday, March 16, in Quezon City. Jones decided to clear the issue following the big mess, borrowing Diaz’s own words, the young politician figured herself into.

The unfortunate issue concerning Angelica and Illac all started with what supposed to be a noble partnership when the two entered into an agreement to mutually help build a school building out of plastic bottles. The said endeavour was administered by My Shelter Foundation, a non-government organization (NGO) where Diaz is executive director.

Per Diaz’s statements, he said that adequate funding had been transferred to Angelica Jones’ custody to cover the costs of constructing school buildings. To cut the long and emotionally dragging story short for the benefit of the readers, Illac got disappointed with the administration of the said project vis-à-vis the amount of money being allegedly squandered, which he suspects to be highly irregular. Thus, the NGO executive director was forced to demand liquidation from the board member, which the latter, per the former’s allegations, failed to immediately comply with.

Angelica refuted Illac’s allegations in the press conference, showing the entertainment press a certification from the Treasurer’s Office of Laguna stating to the effect that no funding has yet been released relative to the plastic bottle school building project, thus refuting Illac’s statements that funding was irregularly spent as there is no funding to speak of.

Angelica also recounted the scandalous event she got involved in where Diaz, in front of the public, allegedly maligned the young politician’s character by screaming, “Ganito ba ang board member ninyo, isang magnanakaw?!”

In retaliation, Angelica sued Diaz for grave oral defamation before the San Pablo courts. Furthermore, a teary-eyed Angelica said:

Tama na pong murahin ako ni Illac, bastusin, yurakan ang pagkatao ko. Pero ang pagiging board member ko na siraan niya ako, siraan ang pangalan ko… Kaya ang gusto ko pong mangyari na ipaglaban ang karapatan ko at ang katotohanan lang.”

`Yun lang po ang gusto kong mangyari na sabihin lang ni Illac Diaz ang katotohanan po. Kung hindi niya sabihin ang katotohanan, itutuloy ko po ang demanda!”

Angelica Jones had her more than fair share of showbiz controversies during her erstwhile career as a sexy comedienne. Now that she has found her solace working as a public servant for her constituents in Laguna, who knew that she would still figure into controversies akin to those she was involved with.

In spite of the outcome of this highly publicized legal battle, here is to hoping that the school building project will push through for the benefit of the Laguna residents, and the discordant feelings of the two parties toward each other, as the courts would say, would be set aside.
