The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), the marketing and promotions arm of the Department of Tourism (DOT), together with the Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA), is inviting the public to join the Ilocos Norte Fun Caravan, the first in a series of the Island Philippines Fun Caravan.

As part of the “Tara Na, Byahe Tayo” campaign of TPB, the Island Philippines Fun Caravan aims to encourage more Filipinos to travel around the country through the introduction of authentic and quality travel experiences in a fun and festive manner. The caravan will also promote camaraderie among participants and environmental awareness, conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.

The first leg of the Northern Luzon Fun Caravan will be from Jan. 23 to 25 and will run from Manila to Nueva Ecija, Baler, Peñablanca, Tuguegarao and back to Manila. The second leg will take place on Jan. 25 to 29 to cover Peñablanca, Tuguegarao, Pagudpud, Laoag, Vigan, Abra, La Union and Manila.

Aside from Northern Luzon, five major and three minor caravans in motoring-friendly destinations are also in the pipeline. Running until July 2021, these caravans will include Southern Luzon Kulinarya Caravan, Cordillera Heritage Warrior Caravan, Visayan Charm Caravan, Bicol Express, The Plains and Heights of Luzon Caravan, Rediscovering Batanes, Northern Palawan Eco-Adventure Discovery and Zamboanga/Tawi-Tawi Hidden Treasures of the South Caravan.

Each caravan is crafted to give a taste of the rich cultural heritage, spectacular sights, sumptuous foods, national living treasures, community-based tourism and farm sites of each destination.

Moreover, the caravans will offer attendees the flexibility to choose their accommodations based on their interests and budget as well as the option to use their own vehicles or avail of the caravan vehicles.

The Island Philippines Fun Caravan hopes to be economically-enriching for participating local government units (LGUs), especially the people living in communities where tourism activities are stimulated. It also aims to help them develop new offerings and gain business network and goodwill among the participants and other local tourism stakeholders and instill pride of place for the host LGUs, communities and participants.

To join the Great Northern Luzon Fun Caravan, and inquire about the other caravans, call PHILTOA at +632 8812 4513 or +63 932 847 4735 or visit facebook.com/PHILTOA.
