MANILA, Philippines - Poor but deserving employees of the Muntinlupa City were recently provided with new houses as early Christmas gifts from leading insurance company Manufacturers Life Insurance (Co.) Philippines Inc. (Manulife Philippines), together with its business process outsourcing arm Manulife Business Processing Services (MBPS), and partner-organization Gawad Kalinga (GK).

The 16 newly built houses were given to family-beneficiaries during recent blessing and turnover rites held at the Manulife-GK Village located at Soldier’s Hills, Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa City. “It’s certainly Manulife’s pleasure to be handing over the third round of houses to all the wonderful people of Muntinlupa area. Because as you look at Manulife, our job, our role, our business is about protecting families. And here is a better example about Manulife physically protecting families by providing shelter, providing houses,” said Manulife Philippines president and chief executive officer Indren Naidoo. Since the agreement was formally sealed, a total of 52 houses had been awarded. The first 16 houses were turned over in December 2011, followed by another 20 in July this year.

In the next 18 months, the remaining 72 of the 124 houses committed in the three-year program are expected to be constructed and awarded to the next group of recipients.
