GCash touts card with 0% Forex fees, global ATM access
MANILA, Philippines — Local mobile wallet and finance app GCash is encouraging travelers to take advantage of its companion card, which has 0% Forex fees on international transactions.
Forex, short for foreign exchange, fees are extra costs charged when one converts one currency type into another.
The actual fee varies among banks and traders, as well as for a given country and how "strong" their currency is at a given time.
The value of 0% foreign exchange fees on the GCash card means users do not have to worry about fluctuating rates or hidden charges, and can even view real-time conversion visibility on the app.
The card additionally has global ATM access, giving users the option to withdraw local currency without having concerns for money changers or carrying large sums of money.
It can also be used for payments abroad at Visa-accepting merchants worldwide, including advanced online purchases — flights, hotels, experiences, data, and even travel taxes.
Withdrawals and transcations reflect on the app with real-time peso conversion and expense tracking.
