MANILA, Philippines — “What would you give someone who has everything?” a TV commercial of actress and TV host Kris Aquino once asked.

The answer, according to Aquino, is not really “everything,” as she said in the commercial.

In a recent interview for Claritin, the so-called “Queen of All Media” revealed to Philstar.com her Christmas shopping hacks that could be helpful in this upcoming season of giving.

1. Shop early or give early.

If you want to give early, Kris suggested giving a Christmas décor like a wreath, which is helpful for those who are too busy to decorate their homes.

2. Experiential gifts are always the best ones to give.

Instead of buying something that might just end up being recycled, Kris advised to give either a gift certificate, a staycation, a trip, travel essentials or kits, cooking class, nail salon vouchers, or anything that could give your loved one a unique experience.

According to Kris, among the best gifts one can give to one’s family is a fast internet connection such as PLDT’s integrated Home technology.

The new PLDT Home-Smart endorser said the telecom companies’ mobile and home internet are a perfect match for her own lifestyle, as she raises two digitally savvy sons and expands her personal brand into the realm of digital media.

“I grew up when punishment was my allowance being reduced. Discipline now is no gadgets, and for my sons, slow internet is the ultimate ‘sacrifice.’ Nothing comes close to the joy of uninterrupted streaming for binge viewing, and for me downloading my subscriptions to my newspapers and magazines instantaneously,” Kris adds in a statement.

3. Give discount coupons or take advantage of discounts and mall sales.

No matter how rich you are, “a discount is a discount,” said Kris.

She said she saves more shopping early during the sale season than doing last-minute shopping.

4. Give high-quality wires or power banks.

If you cannot afford to give a gadget as a gift, chargers or power banks could be your less expensive options as presents for a techie friend. But if you are to give one, make sure to go for high-quality ones.

“We are a gadget nation, so don’t ever use cheap wires and power banks that can cause fire,” said Kris.

“Gumastos ka sa mahal na gadget, so don’t buy cheap wires!”

5. Give the gift of sleep.

Kris admitted that besides love life, she has everything she has ever wanted. So for this Christmas, her gift for herself is a good night’s sleep.

She said, however, that it still pays to give one’s self some nice pillows to truly enjoy a “silent night, holy night.”
