VIRAL: National Museum sends warning to people taking photos in museum

Alixandra Caole Vila - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines - National Museum is getting exasperated with people who just could not keep their phones out of the museum.

Last 2012, the National Museum posted on Facebook, a photo of two girls snapping a frame next to a statue displayed on the museum. The photo was accompanied by a message warning people who do not respect exhibited arts and pieces in a museum.

For some reason, the post has again caught the attention of the social media users recently.

On the museum's facebook post, it says:

"You are putting the National Collection at risk when you pose next to the exhibited art and objects in this manner (to hide their identities we have effaced them). They are irreplaceable. As responsible museum visitors and as concerned Filipinos, you must learn to regard the exhibitions with respect and not prop for your photographs."

The museum also emphasized the fact that these pieces are centuries old and are very significant as it reflect the Filipinos' heritage.

"Visitors who witness such bad behavior from other visitors are requested to tell them off," the post further said.

While most people agreed on the comments section, some people said refraining the visitors from taking photos with the art pieces is ridiculous since they did open it for a public viewing.

One user commented, "Kung iniingatan ng PNM ang lhat ng nasa musium at ayaw nila itong ipakita s internet, then why did they get have a public viewing and we need to pay before we enter...??? Hmmmm...??? Iba'on nyo n lang lahat ng yan s lupa pra wlang makakita... "

On August, Taiwanese boy made headlines when he accidentally tripped and punched a hole into century old painting. The 6.5 feet tall artwork, created by Italian artist Paolo Porpora, dates back to the 1600s. Such unfortunate incident only proves that people have to be extra careful when visiting any place that has valuable items.
