The holiday season is a time when you want to look your party best, but it can also be a potential minefield of beauty perils, what with late-night parties, out-of-town guests, stress, sleep deprivation and more.

To get that all-round pampered feeling for the holidays, beauty and makeup enthusiasts gathered at Rustan’s  Ayala Center Cebu for Rustan’s Beauty Addict, the biggest beauty  event of the year.

Now in its third year, the event paid tribute to the evolution of beauty over the decades with “Beyond Time,” inspiring women, and encouraging  confidence and individuality through beauty and cosmetics.

Beauty Addict members received freebies and exclusive discounts throughout the evening at the first level of the luxury department store that was decked in decades-inspired booths from the 1920s Gatsby-themed cocktail area, to the 1950s diner-inspired registration section, the 1960s and 1970s-inspired multi-brand photo wall, the 1990s hip-hop-themed photo booth and the 2018 minimalist-themed Beauty Addict card area.

Guests also enjoyed interactive counter games and workshops from participating brands Acca Kappa, Chanel, Clarins, Deborah Lippmann, Dermalogica, Jane Iredale, L’Occitane, La Prairie, Laura Mercier, MAC, Mario Badescu, Murad, NARS, O.P.I., and Stila.

Beauty Addict members had their lip blot read to determine their personality at the MAC counter and enjoyed an interactive game of “Heal the Skin” at the Mario Badescu booth. The Hermes counter offered free hand massage while the OPI and Deborah Lippmann counters had free nail styling.

The event was organized in partnership with Metrobank Femme Visa and in support of ICanServe Foundation, which advocates for early breast cancer detection through regular breast self-examination, clinical breast examination and mammography.

The Zonta Club of Cebu II paid homage to women from all walks in life with a photography competition exhibit entitled “Musings on Women” at Ayala Center Cebu.

Fiona King, Pia Congmon, Jen Martinez, Danessa Onglatco, Kate Ngo, Anastasia Kosheleva and Darleen Hopkirk.

The exhibit featured works of Cebuano photographers and artists that depict the varied roles of women in society today. Architect Filna Espina, chairperson of the project, expressed the club’s hope that through the exhibit, they can send a message on how essential the roles of women  are and how equality among gender can enhance community building.

“Musings on Women” is one of the activities of Abay sa Kahayag’s 18 days of Activism against gender-based violence. It is a long term partnership with the City of Mandaue to advance the welfare of women and children against violence and abuse.
