Who cradles Maxene Magalona to sleep?

Who cradles Maxene Magalona to sleep?
“It literally cradles you to sleep,” says Maxene Magalona of her Tempur bed.

MANILA, Philippines - It is what cradles young celebrity and actress Maxene Magalona to sleep — a Tempur mattress. “It’s amazing really,” she says. “It’s not like a regular mattress.  I noticed the difference, of how it captures the shape of your body. It literally cradles you. It’s as if it embraces you while you sleep.”

Maxene loves to sleep. She takes naps in the middle of the day. “When we have long hours at the set and we  have chunks of time when we are not needed in the scene, we take advantage and take a nap to conserve our energy, because we could be shooting until midnight,” she explains.

“Sleep is really very important,” Maxene says. “I really take my sleep very seriously, because I noticed the difference, if you have a good  night’s sleep compared to just having a few hours, and you are not able to function well during the day.”

Maxene used to suffer from stiff neck. She was fond of using a goose down pillow. “I thought that was the most comfortable, but I noticed that my head would sink. The pillow does not support it, so I’d wake up with a really bad stiff neck that would last for two days,” she relates. “But when you are acting, you have to move normally. You cannot be stiff.” Her Tempur Symphony pillow cushions and supports her neck, which enables her to sleep comfortably. No more stiff neck.

ABS-CBN Publishing president and CEO Ernie Lopez says he needs at least seven to eight hours of sleep. “Because if I don’t get a good night’s sleep, when I wake  up, I am very masungit,” he says. He has been using a Tempur mattress for the past 15 years. “Tempur is already a part of my life and I’m happy with it,” he says.

“Once you start using it, it’s very hard to get away from it,” says Stephen  Sy, president of Focus Global, exclusive distributor of Tempur, the pioneer brand in memory foam mattresses. It uses a NASA-engineered pressure absorbing material that adapts, conforms and supports the body’s natural contour. “The Tempur material conforms to the shape of your body. You don’t feel the pressure points. It supports your spine. There’s no question about it. You really get a good night’s sleep.”

“It’s really not hard to sell the brand. All we have to do is let you try it,” says Mayen Yuzon, Focus Global senior brand manager. There are three different kinds of Tempur mattresses catering to different preferences: Original, Cloud, and Sensation. “Cloud is soft, while Original would be firm. Sensation gives you a kind of bounce,”  Mayen explains. “We advise our clients at the store to lie down and try it.”

The new Tempur store and showroom, located on level 3 of Greenbelt 5, which opened in June this year, features the new Tempur store concept. “It is the same look that  you see when you go to Europe or the US, using the most modern point of sale collaterals,” Mayen says.

“We are also formally launching our #We Love Sleep campaign,” Mayen adds. “It’s an avenue for Tempur users to tell their story, because everyone is unique. But we  believe that whatever your preference, your body type, your age or size, there’s always this perfect Tempur product for you. You can see it from the different lifestyles of our brand ambassadors.”  They include Gonstead chiropractor Dr. Daniel Su, business woman Linda Lim, BDO Investment Banking Corp. president Ed Francisco, celebrity mom Donita Rose Cavett, and young actress, Maxene Magalona.

“When it comes to pillows and mattresses, there are a lot of other brands out there that will tell you that they are as good or even better,  but in order to stay this long, you really have to have the quality of a Tempur,” says Donita Rose. Using  the right type of pillow helped her in her longtime struggle with chronic migraine. This led her to invest in Tempur pillows. “There are different types of pillows you can use, whether you are a back sleeper, a tummy sleeper or a side sleeper,” she says. She had been saving up for a Tempur mattress, and she is excited that she will be able to get one soon.

“It’s really the best investment. If you can save up to buy a signature handbag or expensive shoes, you can put your savings into a Tempur mattress,” Maxene remarks. “With Tempur, you get a good quality of sleep. When you wake up, you are able to function well throughout the day. And throughout the day, you are thinking about your Tempur mattress and you can’t wait to get back home. It’s like your reward, after a long hard day at work.”
