Gym franchise opens HYROX training facility
MANILA, Philippines — The Venice Grand Canal branch of Gold's Gym has opened a new training facility dedicated to HYROX race preparations.
HYROX is an up-and-coming racing format that involves different workout stations such as rowing, sled pushing, and wall balls after eight one-kilometer runs.
The new 750-square-meter hub located in the Taguig mall features specialized equiment and training zones ideal for HYROX preparation, on top of this Gold's Gym branch being powered by Metcon — a functional training methodology directed at metabolic conditioning.
"The strength you build in the gym gives you the grit to handle things outside it," said Gold's Gym x Metcon owner Edmundo Vega at the facility's launch last May 14.
Central to the facility's HYROX training is The Grin method developed by fitness expert Antos Sietereales, which targets strength, mobility, and accuracy.

Joining the HYROX training facility coaching team is four-time CrossFit Open National Champion and the first Filipino male CrossFit Games athlete Justin Hernandez.
"I've seen firsthand how Filipino athletes excel at the mix of endurance and strength that HYROX demands," Hernandez said in a statement. "Our goal is to buuld a solid team of competitors from right here who can make their mark at events across Asia."
Other than the HYROX training hub, Gold's Gym x Metcon also has regular strength equipment, functional fitness zones, the BOOMBOX boxing club, the Cobrinha Manila Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club, and a premium recovery suite with ice baths and saunas.
